Your data, your rights, in plain English
The information you share with Meia Lab is health data, which UK law classifies as special category data and protects accordingly. These are your rights and exactly how to use them. You never need to give a reason.
What you can do from your account
Export your data and delete your account, directly, without emailing anyone. Deletion removes your personal information from our systems, subject to narrow legal retention requirements (for example, payment records we must keep for tax purposes).
What you can request from us
- Access
- A copy of everything we hold about you.
- Correction
- A fix for anything inaccurate.
- Erasure
- Deletion beyond the self-serve option, including edge cases.
- Restriction and objection
- Limits on how we process your data in specific circumstances.
- Portability
- Your provided data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdrawal of consent
- At any time, with effect from that point forward, without affecting your access to care or to the product features that do not require the data in question.
How to make a request
Email data@meialab.com from the address linked to your account, stating what you want. We will verify your identity before releasing or deleting anything, which protects you. We respond within one calendar month, as UK GDPR requires; if a request is complex we may extend by up to two further months and will tell you why.
If we get it wrong
You can complain to us first, and we would prefer the chance to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) at any time.
